Cathedral grounds

We've reached a little crossroads in the path and have overshot it slightly. This green space is used by people to sit and eat lunch. Ahead you can see the entrance to the Cathedral precincts now used by cars.

This area is known as the Oaks and was once the Cathedral fishpond.

Left is the War Memorial garden fronted by a spectacular gateway. Right leads down past the side of the cathedral towards Christchurch Gate. Behind is a fine view of the east end of the Cathedral.
