Into the Great Cloister

Into the Great Cloister

Our path round the Cathedral leads us through the Great Cloister, a courtyard with a covered walkway around the outside. This is the path that the knights who came to murder Becket took on Tuesday, December 29th, 1170.

Ahead is the door into the Cathedral, and just inside the door is the memorial to the martydom. We are not going to enter, instead we move round the Cloister to the diagonal corner to exit down a passage leading us around the Cathedral.
