Watling Street was a major roman road, it ran from Reculver on the Kent Coast to North Wales. This small street bears its name in Canterbury. If we walk down here we link up with Rose Lane. The buildings are mostly offices.
Had you stood here in the Third Century, then you would have been standing on the stage of an enormous theatre that must have been major Canterbury landmark. Behind you was a large temple area.
